What is K9-Tissue Core™?
K9-Tissue Core™ is an advanced, cost-effective tumour sequencing panel designed to analyse tumour tissue. It can be used to determine whether a tumour carries well-established therapeutic targets or prognostic markers. Examples include the BRAF V595E mutation or ERBB2 amplification in urothelial carcinoma; TP53, PTEN, PIK3CA and NRAS alterations in hemangiosarcoma; PTPN11 or KRAS mutations in canine histiocytic sarcoma; and prognostic markers such as TP53, TRAF3, MYC and SETD2 in canine lymphoma.
How does it work?
K9-Tissue Core™ detects clinically relevant genetic alterations across 75 cancer-related genes, providing valuable information about tumour biology, prognosis and potential therapeutic targets.
Why is K9-Tissue Core™ different?
K9-Tissue Core™ has been developed specifically to detect somatic mutations in well-characterised, commonly diagnosed canine cancers. Genes are sequenced to a depth of at least 200x, enabling precise detection of tumour DNA variants. The test analyses 75 cancer-related genes, providing valuable information about tumour biology, prognosis and potential therapeutic targets.

We require five 5-micrometre sections from tumour blocks containing at least 30% tumour tissue.
Please note that decalcification, the process used to remove minerals from bone tissue, can damage tumour DNA and may cause genetic testing to fail. If future genetic testing is anticipated, please ask your pathologist to retain a sample of soft tumour tissue before decalcification. This is particularly important for cancers such as osteosarcoma, oral melanoma and oral squamous cell carcinoma.
We require at least three cellular slides with a minimum tumour cell content of 30%.
