The price for each Uri-LiquiDx™ Urine Test Kit encompasses all components of the kit as well as the extensive preparation and logistical efforts to deliver a complete, ready-to-use package. This ensures that every sample is processed accurately and with the care it deserves, upholding our commitment to high-quality diagnostic standards.

This kit ensures that your pet patient’s urine sample is collected, stored, and transported under optimal conditions, allowing for the most accurate and reliable diagnostic outcomes. Thank you for choosing CanCan Diagnostics for your veterinary testing needs. We are committed to supporting you in providing top-tier care to your patients.

  1. Collect the blood/urine sample from your pet patient, ensuring the collection tube is filled to the 9mL indicated mark.
  2. Mix by gently inverting the tube 10 times.
  3. Secure the filled tube inside the protective pouch, then place it into the test box.
  4. Seal the test box with the provided sealing sticker to ensure sample integrity.
  5. Fill out the accompanying test submission form and ship the sample to our laboratory as per the included instructions.

The tubes can be stored just at room temperature. They have vacuum in them, so just fill them up to 9mL and mix it 10 times by gently inverting it. We recommend taking 9mLs but in exceptional circumstances it is possible to conduct our tests with as little as 5mL of blood. The recommendation comes from the fact that the higher cfDNA input into the sequencing test the higher its precision in identifying rare variants.

We can perform sequencing on both FFPE and FNAs.

For FFPE we require scrolls from the tumour section where there is at least 30% of tumour present and we need a minimum of 5x5um sections are required.

For FNAs we would need 3 cellular slides- please let us know if the submitted slides are less than 20% of all cells as we may need to adjust the sequencing depth of sequencing to reliably call variants in the sample.

Uri-LiquiDXTM has been created to fill out the diagnostic gap in diagnosing urothelial carcinomas, where a subset of cancers are not carrying BRAF V595E mutation. There are currently limited minimally invasive tests allowing for diagnosis of urothelial carcinomas when BRAF V595E is negative.

Quantitative Analysis and identification of molecular targets: Uri-LiquiDXTM test provides quantitative data, which is vital for a detailed analysis of the genetic markers. While we have not utilised this feature for monitoring treatment responses through urine samples specifically, its quantitative nature supports potential applications in this area. In addition, the test identifies somatic mutations in multiple druggable targets allowing for targeted therapy.

Speed of Results Delivery: Our streamlined process ensures that results are delivered within 10-14 working days from the sample’s receipt.

Summary: The Uri-LiquiDXTM test is distinguished by its targeted approach, internal checks for DNA quality, and quick result turnaround. Its design not only ensures high accuracy in detecting canine sequences but also sets a foundation for future applications in treatment monitoring.

Once a package for multiple time point tests (such as 3-5 tests) is purchased, we are unable to offer a refund. This policy is due to the costs incurred in reserving and preparing the full series of tests for your pet. We recommend these packages for ongoing patient monitoring.

Yes, that is precisely how it can work. The add-on germline analysis is particularly beneficial in cases involving rare breeds or elderly animals. In elderly animals, a phenomenon known as Clonal Haematopoiesis of Indeterminate Potential (CHIP) may be detected, which can complicate the interpretation of cancer-related genetic changes. Starting with a standard analysis allows us to determine if the additional precision of a germline analysis is necessary to accurately assess the sample.

Tumour sequencing may be added as well. This is particularly useful when one aims at monitoring patients where the tumour was already removed. Variants identified in these cases can be present at very low levels in circulation and the tumour sequencing enhances the tests sensitivity.

We recommend the CCDK9LBU test especially in situations where a tumour has already been removed from a dog. This comprehensive sequencing approach increases the sensitivity of the test, allowing us to lower the thresholds for variant filtration. This adjustment is crucial as it helps in accurately identifying mutations associated with the tumour, even after its physical removal, which is vital for effective post-operative monitoring and further treatment planning.

Furthermore, in recognition of the specific needs associated with analysing tumour characteristics, we are considering replacing our current ‘add-on germline’ option with an ‘add-on tumour’ analysis. This change would enhance our ability to detect and analyse tumour-related mutations more precisely, thereby providing a more targeted and clinically useful evaluation.

This premium service includes germline sequencing, which accounts for the higher price compared to the standard CCDK9LB1 test. The primary difference in cost arises because the premium add-on involves preparing and sequencing this patient’s sample independently of other sample availability.

Tumour samples can be sequenced concurrently in this sample.

Although all the genes included in the panels are analysed, the reports generated from the tests focus on delivering actionable insights by including only those genes where we identify mutations, copy number variations or internal tandem duplications.

This approach ensures that veterinarians receive clear and concise information that is directly relevant to the diagnosis and treatment planning for the patient.

Yes, the K9-LiquiDx™ test can be effectively used for monitoring the disease post-diagnosis. Ideally, for the most comprehensive assessment, we recommend sending a blood sample before the tumour is surgically removed.

This allows us to fully understand the specific characteristics of the tumour we need to monitor in subsequent blood samples. However, if a pre-removal blood sample was not obtained, you can still utilise the K9-LiquiDx™ test for disease monitoring. In this case we recommend adding tumour sequencing to the K9-LiquiDx ™ to ensure the highest sensitivity of the test. Treatment can either cause the circulating tumour DNA to disappear or reduce it to very low levels, which are difficult to detect and can be filtered out by analysis pipeline.

This flexibility ensures that you can continue to track the progression or remission of the disease, even without initial biopsy data.
